Fantasy-esque Winter Wonderland @ Intl. Ice & Snow Festival

January 15, 2013 by capture-monger

Wow.  Just – WOWW.  I guess it shouldn’t come as such a surprise that the nation that built the Great Wall of China, has constructed such an incredible attraction as the International Ice & Snow Festival in Harbin.  Not far away from the most recent additions to the Great Wall of China in the 16th Century, the city of Harbin (that has an average winter temperature right around 0°F / -16°C) has hosted the festival since 1963 (annually from 1985).  […]

Staggering Montage of GIF’s to Girl Talk’s Night Ripper

January 14, 2013 by capture-monger

Using only animated GIFs found in the Internet’s vast archives, Evan Roth has compiled a massive amount of virtual readymades (GIFs) to create an unofficial music video for a ten minute chunk of Girl Talk’s Night Ripper album.  In doing so he has re-hashed many of modern-day culture’s quirky gems – this re-hash fitting perfectly with the audio mash up style of Girl Talk who draws upon samples of a large variety of classic hits.  If you don’t laugh during […]

More Shattering Beauty by Martin Klimas

January 12, 2013 by capture-monger

Blowing minds left & right, Martin Klimas‘ work is simply spectacular.  The third posting showcasing his work ( post #1 , post #2) in 2 days it is needless to say ( but will do so anyways) that I am a HUGE fan.  Check out these amazing high-speed photographic captures of bullets bursting and fracturing vases of gorgeous floral arrangements. STRIKING!!!

Porcelian Battle Shatterings by Martin Klimas.

January 12, 2013 by capture-monger

Whilst researching the works of Martin Klimas, the high-speed photographic documentation of the poetic destruction of martial artist porcelain figurines came to light.  Using powerful strobes and incredibly fast shutter speeds, Klimas was able to capture near-choreographed poses of battle and shattering with said ceramic figures.  Pretty jaw-dropping results.  See the bottom for Martin’s own words on the process and intention of the project. EHREE BUDDY WAS KUNG-FU FIGHTING.

Based out of Hilo, Hawaii, Tom Kualii casually photographs lava flows and spectacles as a hobby.  A bit of a dangerous hobby but an extremely unique and exciting one to say the least.  Here is a sampling of his amazing molten earth captures. MAHG-MAAAA!!!!

Animated Paint Via Vibrations by Martin Klimas.

January 11, 2013 by capture-monger

Ever wondered what invisible sound waves look like?  Ever thought of what the horns and bass lines in James Brown’s “Sex Machine” might look like if you could see their sound form?  Attempting to make such optically imperceptible vibrations graspable for our visual range, Martin Klimas pooled paint on a taught piece of rubber directly above a speaker and captured the resulting action.  Playing very specific songs (Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Daft Punk, etc.) Klimas captured some incredible fluid phyiscs […]

Pop Culture Filtered Illustrations of Boneface.

January 10, 2013 by capture-monger

With a self-prescribed diet of “videogames / cartoons / comic books / crappy b-movies”, Boneface has some very interesting and varied subject matter which he cranks out in a vey clean and colorfully graphic style.  Illustrating out of the UK for the past few years, Boneface is an illustrator to keep an eye on for exciting new work. CRISP N’ GRITTY!!!!

Tursdee TUNES!!!

January 10, 2013 by capture-monger

A wittle wound-up of jammers for you to get a smirk on wif.  Quite contrast-y from the group of classic retro melodies, the last tune is a trappy re-hash-mash of Sir Mix Alot’s “I Like Big Butts” which is pretty bonkers – hot off the Soundcloud/Facebook press of Mr.Emoh Instead (an electronic producer from Aussie-land with some serious talent) that might just blow you away (if you’re into the trap sty-lee).
