Slice of Disco Heaven

October 21, 2012 by capture-monger

Killer laid back disco rework by a super talented producer over in the Netherlands by the name of PaysBass (click to go check out some of his other phenomenal work).  Somehow he has decided to gift his work onto the world, so all the tracks are downloadable without cost for your listening pleasure – make sure to give him some vocal love if you do though and leave him a comment!!!  Below is an absolute gem re-groove of The Crown […]

Wondrous Wisteria Tunnel

October 21, 2012 by capture-monger

A perfect destination for a Sunday stroll, this tunnel of hanging Wisteria flowers would brighten anyone’s day/life.  Located in the Kawachi Fuji Gardens of Kitakyushu, Japan; it is clear to see that the Nipponese know how to create peaceful settings. PEACE BE WITH THEE.

Lightning Fields

October 21, 2012 by capture-monger

Hiroshi Sugimoto is a man of many talents and musings.  In 2008 he performed a study on the nature of electricity.  Using a 400,000-volt Van De Graaff generator, he applied electrical charge directly onto film.  Entitled “Lightning Fields”, the work is awe-inspiring. ZAP YOUR EYES WITH DEEZ:

Tomorrow’s Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards!!!

October 19, 2012 by capture-monger

Just a quick & fun post for all yawl Friday revelers.  Since it has been over a year since its original broadcast to the world, I worry people may be forgetting about the game-changing song “Friday” by living legend Rebecca Black.  Here are two renditions that are sure to have you skipping in no time.  SAFE SKIPPING YAWL! Be warned that the following track has some (mildly) crass lines for you with sensitive ears!

Floral Fireworks by David Johnson

October 19, 2012 by capture-monger

Here are some fireworks to start off your Friday!  But these aren’t your typical sky-bangers.  David Johnson (check his site here) has experimented with shooting long-exposure images of the celebratory bursts in a radical yet simple way.  Beginning the exposure out of focus, he quickly brings the colorful explosion into focus, achieving a visual effect that turns the firework into a floral/sea urchin like entity.  VERY COOL

Intervention Worthy?

October 19, 2012 by capture-monger

This web blog (blahg) will mostly focus on light and feel good material, but it will also occasionally present articles & photo-journalistic images of current events with the aim of sparking thought on issues you may have skipped or missed.  Attempts to stay balanced will be relatively small, so feel free to jump in and voice your opinion! If you’ve been staying up to date with the increasing instability in Syria, you may note that there are similarities to other […]

Planetary Perspective.

October 18, 2012 by capture-monger

Framing galactic scale within the human mind is a confounding mental project few are capable of.  Christopher Malin has made this conceptualization a bit easier by sequencing a series of Long Exposure photographs (originally shot by Don Petit) from the International Space Station – creating a time-lapse that brilliantly captures the rotation of the Earth. Dolophins + Funk

October 16, 2012 by capture-monger

Not only did Parliament set standards in the Funk music game, they also raised the standard of dolphin skiing.  From the album catalog of the Motor Booty Affair album catalog (released 1978), George Clinton shows that he truly is the funkiest ghettoblaster-rocking cowboy of all-time,  DIGGGGG!!

Everything is a Remix

October 15, 2012 by capture-monger

Following suit with the thought of evolved stardust, we have a fun graphic by a design duo nicebleed from the Philippines (click on the link to see other work on their tumblr).  The tune below is a mashup of some old classic organ and “Do The Right Thing” by Redhead Kingpin – some nice positive message hop-hop for you to some amazing vintage organ riffs.
