Recently visiting the Sitzmark Club at the Alta Lodge in Little Cottonwood Canyon, I saw a legendary ‘Ski Utah’ poster from decades past. It inspired a search into vintage skiing posters. Below is a collection of some of the best ski posters from simpler times (& fictional :} ).
A bit late on the uptake of this film (it came out in September of 2013), but after watching the nude skiing segment last night at the Banff Film festival in SLC, I started looking into Valhalla by Sweetgrass Productions. Holy fuggin’ shiz. You just gotta friggin’ watch these trailers – this flick will certainly go down as one of the very finest in its field. Holy ba-jeezus. Wearing only boots goggles and avalanche beacons, skiers and boarders in this video are closer to the snow than may be comfortable. This segment from Sweetgrass Productions latest ski epic ‘Valhalla’ is one of the more impressive bits of human will-power in the sporting realm you’ll see. BONUS SEGMENT! Below you will find the segment of Jungle skiing that was shot in the rainforest near Mt.Baker in the spring/summer of 2013. WOW.

Intriguing pieces.
DURN! There is some borderline magic type-a-shet happening in the photographs and compositions of TackyShack (the pseudonym for Jeremy Jackson, an outrageously good Light Painter). Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Tacky says he spends “great amounts of time waving lights in front of my camera.” Jackson is also dedicated to get other light painting experimenters involved, and holds workshops to introduce people to the medium. ELAPSED TIME ENCAPSULATED
The amount of hype & human / physical resources that are given to the Superbowl is nothing short of staggering. Meanwhile there are issues and events occurring simultaneously on the international scale, that make such a game seem over-esteemed and silly – especially when the Broncos get blown out by 35 points 😛 . Here are the best of this past week’s New York Times LENS site:
JFK on the harsh words towards Pandora, but sometimes it’s important to discover music in other less commercialized ways- do I sound like an indie hipster douche? In any case, here is an extremely top drawer amalgamation of up-beat feel-gooder BREAKS. The image has many deep underlying meanings, but is mostly relevant because that falcon’s got some of the most bitchin’est headphones I’ve ever seen. BREAK IT ON DOWN.
