After reading the following quote on the process and influences of Mexican based artist Kraken, it is hard to not be intrigued: “I am inspired by different things when I work: comic books, movies, but mostly emotions. I get a lot of inspiration from reading psychological case studies of serial killers,” Razor sharp lines and piercing subject matter fill Kraken’s macabre compositions. Pretty rad work indeed. GHASTLY

David M. Cook (currently creating outta Bruhcklahn, NuYawk) is a Tattooist/Artist whose lines are crisper than starched linen forgotten in the oven. Sketching outlandish creatures and crazed craniums, the work of Mr.Cook is darkly-enchanting and top-notch. When I finally get a tattoo, it will be with heavy influence from David Cook and Rik Lee – genuine masters of their trade. I wonder how long of a wait there is to get a tattoo from the hands of these craftsman. RAZOR […]

Ever wondered what invisible sound waves look like? Ever thought of what the horns and bass lines in James Brown’s “Sex Machine” might look like if you could see their sound form? Attempting to make such optically imperceptible vibrations graspable for our visual range, Martin Klimas pooled paint on a taught piece of rubber directly above a speaker and captured the resulting action. Playing very specific songs (Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Daft Punk, etc.) Klimas captured some incredible fluid phyiscs […]

Based out of the madness that is Southern California, Tim Biskup has quite a unique style in his cubic approach to painting. Breaking down curvilinear forms into polygonal planes, Biskup’s work doesn’t fail to intrigue. Also, a huge fan of the cranial aesthetic, Tim’s renditions of the human skull are fantastic. APPEALING PLANARS
Using a vast array of fuzzy pastels and contrasting sharp gouaches, Rachell Sumpter whips up some seriously supernatural scenes on paper. I’d continue to try and propound thoughts and speculations on her style, but her website has a way better sum-up then anything I can come up with- this excerpt is located below the gallery. “Rachell Sumpter paints splendors into a desolate, peopled wilderness. Using layered gouache and pastel, these are scenes at once of community and of isolation: figures […]
Immersion into the wilderness and raw nature is a crucial developmental component for every human being. Hannah Stouffer was born to wildlife documentarians, and instilled a sense of natural mysticism early on. Now based out of San Francisco, Stouffer is pumping out very clean and transcendental landscapes with intriguing froms and color combinations. With a bit of influence from black arts imagery, Hannah’s compositions also have a dark-folkloric feel to her work as well.
Infatuated with the idea of ‘Transient Art’, Cliff Briggie works mainly with liquids, ice, and unstable media that are constantly transforming under the macro lens of his camera. Like a new twist on paper marbling, Briggie uses ice and water as a medium in which to diffuse and paint & roll the dice for fleeting aesthetica. Also be sure to check out Cliff’s Flickr Photo page to see the massive amount of work Briggie has amassed over the years. PSYCHEDELIC […]

Pulling ‘readymades’ from thrift stores and other reclamation sites such as garage sales, Chad Wys remixes cheesy classics from the flea market archives. Certainly falling in line with Duchamp, Banksy, and modern day Memes, Wys’s work is mischievously charming and unexpected. IS NOTHING SACRED ANYMORE?
