Juxtapoz recently had a few great features on Psychedelic posters of the 60’s and 70’s – here is a sampling from the best of the the “Big 5” (Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Victor Moscoso, Wes Wilson, & Rick Griffin) from the hub of it all: San Francisco. FAR OUT

Ultra-chromatic & otherworldly, Kate Shaw‘s works are like visions from wildly beautiful hallucinations. Shaw’s statement regarding the conceptual intent of her work is also quite radical – (and I quote from her site) : “I am concurrently exploring the sublime in nature whilst imbuing a sense of toxicity and artificiality in this depiction. The intention is to reflect upon the contradiction between our inherent connection to the natural world and continual distancing from it” Creating her own specialized technique of […]

Recently visiting the Sitzmark Club at the Alta Lodge in Little Cottonwood Canyon, I saw a legendary ‘Ski Utah’ poster from decades past. It inspired a search into vintage skiing posters. Below is a collection of some of the best ski posters from simpler times (& fictional :} ).

A bit late on the uptake of this film (it came out in September of 2013), but after watching the nude skiing segment last night at the Banff Film festival in SLC, I started looking into Valhalla by Sweetgrass Productions. Holy fuggin’ shiz. You just gotta friggin’ watch these trailers – this flick will certainly go down as one of the very finest in its field. The psychedelic cinematography, music selection, and spiritual storyline is simply sublime. Gawd Deh’yum. GOTTA […]

Rafael Araujo has a unique perspective on the world. Through his highly refined work, Araujo tries to convey this view by taking natural events and applying mathematics, and parameters / framework to them- visually blending nature and the physics side of occurrences of the organic world. Intriguing pieces.

The level of detail in the work of autodidactic Arij Moka is next level type-a-shet. Just plain crazy. Based out of Leipzig, Germany, Arij spends months on a single piece, and years on a series. Moka’s work is certain to impress, and if not – get your vision/head checked.

DURN! There is some borderline magic type-a-shet happening in the photographs and compositions of TackyShack (the pseudonym for Jeremy Jackson, an outrageously good Light Painter). Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Tacky says he spends “great amounts of time waving lights in front of my camera.” Jackson is also dedicated to get other light painting experimenters involved, and holds workshops to introduce people to the medium. ELAPSED TIME ENCAPSULATED
