Chinese Madness – Transfering 250 million Rural Folk into Cities.

September 2, 2013 by capture-monger

As China shifts into the next unfathomable gear of its development and ‘progression’, it seems as though the country is under the reins of a lunatic. In case you haven’t heard, the Chinese government has issued a ‘plan’ to transfer 250 million (that is 250,000,000 – a quarter of a billion) rural farmers and villagers into megalopolises over the next 12 to 15 years.  Why exactly?  To self-support their economy?  China truly has taken the U.S. Military Industrial complex and […]

Photojournalism Roundup #828.

August 28, 2013 by capture-monger

There have been a surplus of depressing, and less-than-dynamic images on the New York Times LENS Photojournalism Blog over the past couple weeks, but here are some of the more uplifting and interesting of the lot. BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT YOU’VE GOT.

Dave Chapelle’s BRILLIANT Parody of an Anti-Marijuana Ad.

August 26, 2013 by capture-monger

Recklessly driving around the bustling streets of Enterprise, Oregon last night, totally NOT high on any type of drug, I was reminded of a absolute CLASSIC segment from Dave Chapelle’s legendary program – Chapelle’s Show.  Laughing hysterically at the memory, I had to see it again, so posted it up on here to share with you all.  Below you will find the original and serious anti-marijuana ad, followed by Chapelle’s parody of the ridiculous propaganda. LAUGH HARD! Original: Chapelle: Update: […]

Psychedelic and Bizzaro works by Erik Mark Sandberg.

August 26, 2013 by capture-monger

It seems as though mind-tweaking substances are becoming a staple in the diets of modern-day visual artists and their patrons / viewers.  Whether it’s the drugs, or just the  faux realities of his L.A. surrounds, Erik Mark Sandberg is an artist whose outré work appeals to those with a penchant for the surreal and psychedelic.  Who needs bad acid with artwork like this? : }

Prophetic, Critical, and Amazing Work by Wes Lang.

August 23, 2013 by capture-monger

Looking at Wes Lang‘s tatto flash-sheet esque compositions, is like observing the fluid thought processing of a deranged genius.  Jumping around the ‘canvas’ on tangents and related ideas, Lang’s work is provoking and brilliant.  His most recent release of work was a result of a prolonged stay at the swanky Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood.  In an almost Hunter S. Thompson fashion he meditated on the ‘American Dream’ and modern day culture, and churned out a box set of […]

ZOMBIE!!! Lora Zombie, that is, & her Amusing Art

August 23, 2013 by capture-monger

With a grand sense of humor and unique technique, Lora Zombie is a stellar artist.  Blending abstractly organic washes of watercolors with clean and detailed lines of pencil and pen, Zombie’s compositions are like sweet and sour tastes, stimulating many points of the mental/visual palate.

Silly Juxtaposition Photographs

August 18, 2013 by capture-monger

Randomly stumbled across this series of silly juxtaposition photographs that I thought I’d throw on here for a quick and cheap/small laugh (at least grin).  Good luck out there and enjoy one of the last weeks of August! FOTO FOOLISHNESS.

‘Aqueous’ Photographs of Paint Dispersion by Mark Mawson.

August 18, 2013 by capture-monger

Fluid dynamics are the focus of Mark Mawson‘s work.  Also exploring and capturing the vaporous nature of smoke, Mawson’s photographs pique an innate fascination for blooming and warping forms.  I bet your saying ” I wish I could see some of these shots in action” – well good jeezus you just got your wish dude/dudette – beneath the gallery below you’ll find a video of the drops in motion.  ENJOY. PLUMES AND FUMES.

Graphic Stylings of Joe Murtagh

August 17, 2013 by capture-monger

Joe Murtagh has a pretty wild psyche that he expresses through the use of Adobe Illustrator in sharp fashion.  Seemingly obsessed with craniums and women, the two often intermingle and create intriguing juxtaposition. BRIGHT and BEWITCHING.
