Organic Calculations by Rafael Araujo.

February 14, 2014 by capture-monger

Rafael Araujo has a unique perspective on the world.  Through his highly refined work, Araujo tries to convey this view by taking natural events and applying mathematics, and parameters / framework to them- visually blending nature and the physics side of occurrences of the organic world.  Intriguing pieces.

Ultra-Intricate Pen-work by Arij Moka

February 14, 2014 by capture-monger

The level of detail in the work of autodidactic Arij Moka is next level type-a-shet.  Just plain crazy.  Based out of Leipzig, Germany, Arij spends months on a single piece, and years on a series. Moka’s work is certain to impress, and if not – get your vision/head checked.

Dazzling Light Paintings by TackyShack

February 6, 2014 by capture-monger

DURN!  There is some borderline magic type-a-shet happening in the photographs and compositions of TackyShack (the pseudonym for Jeremy Jackson, an outrageously good Light Painter).  Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Tacky says he spends “great amounts of time waving lights in front of my camera.”  Jackson is also dedicated to get other light painting experimenters involved, and holds workshops to introduce people to the medium. Feel-REAL-Good tunes from Flamingosis.

February 6, 2014 by capture-monger

Aaron Velásquez (the man behind Flamingosis) is a phenom of musical hybridization & creation.  Creating other-worldy tracks by blending in beautiful & stylistic samples from yesteryear, with modern audio technology and beats (a la J. Dilla), Velàsquez’s work is something special.  And he’s one generous sunnuvagun as well, gifting his new album for all to enjoy free of charge.  Show Flamingosis some serious love and head over to his SoundCloud page as well as the Flamingosis website to keep up […]

Hypnotic & Ephemeral Forms by Kim Keever

February 3, 2014 by capture-monger

Much like watching smoke & vaporous, the aqueous forms produced by Ken Keever are mesmerizing.  Having stumbled upon Keever’s work via a great interview conducted by a Juxtapoz correspondent – I encourage you to read the whole account by clicking here.  Below you’ll find an excerpt from said interview that tells of Keever’s interesting background: “Keever’s first professional job was at NASA where he was testing “nozzles” in a futuristic laboratory designed to muffle all sound. At the time he […]

Masterful Collage Work by Ben Stainton

February 3, 2014 by capture-monger

Right up there with some of the very best collage work, and with plenty of Dada spirit to go around, Ben Stainton has a pretty impressive collection of his juxtaposed cuttings amassing.  Below you’ll find some of my personal favorites, but be sure to go check out his site (by clicking on his name/link above) to see more and larger scale versions. Photojournalism Gems – Feb. 2

February 2, 2014 by capture-monger

The amount of hype & human / physical resources that are given to the Superbowl is nothing short of staggering.  Meanwhile there are issues and events occurring simultaneously on the international scale, that make such a game seem over-esteemed and silly – especially when the Broncos get blown out by 35 points 😛 .  Here are the best of this past week’s New York Times LENS site:
