Spectacular Stick Work by Patrick Dougherty.

March 5, 2013 by capture-monger

Using what many would consider to be ‘green-waste’ or tree clippings, twigs, sticks and reeds (mostly of willow) are the medium for Dougherty’s jaw-dropping sculptures and structures.  Whilst staying with my Genius (but you know what the say about the line between genius and insanity ;D) cousin Matty J in the Borderlands Motel of EPA, I was overcome with excitement to find an installation by Patrick Dougherty a mere 5 blocks from Matt’s apartment.  I was able to snap a […]

AWESOME / Experimental Documentary Entitled “Leviathan”

March 5, 2013 by capture-monger

“Exploring the space between art film and documentary,” ‘Leviathan’ is a highly innovative survey of life on a ground-fish trawler off the coast of Massachusetts.  Originally learning about this project through the New York Times homepage, further investigation only caused greater intrigue.  The film is a product of Harvard’s “Sensory Ethnography” department, and is just flat out awe-inspiring.  The cinematographic execution is extremely original, and stands as testament to the incredible versatility and vantage-possibilities that the GoPro, and other similar […]

Winning illustrations by Mr.Bingo

March 3, 2013 by capture-monger

Mr.Bingo is an illustrator based outta ol’ London town who does simplistic renderings with a heap of humor.  He began sending people hate mail – where people would pay him to send them a postcard with a negative message on it – and his popularity has soared.  Even being contracted out by VW, Esquire, and many others, Mr.Bingo is crushing it. ELEMENTARY ABSURDITY

What’s Goin’ On? This week’s World in Pictures.

February 28, 2013 by capture-monger

It’s quite a blantantly obvious statement to make, but: the variety of events that occur on this planet in a given week is mind-blowing.  From quitters leaving decadent religious cities, to people surviving in humble mud structures – from the intertwining technicolor smoke trails of air-shows to air-strikes that turn buildings into rubble – the Earth’s happenings are staggering in their complexity and volume.  Here’s the latest collection of favorites from the past week from LENS. PONDER PERSPECTIVE. Thanks to […]

Homage to BANKSY.

February 26, 2013 by capture-monger

With Banksy being in the news recently in relation to a piece he did for the London Olympics this past summer being stolen off a wall and put in an Art Auction in Miami, (full story here), a small tribute to some of his great works seemed in order.  A true living legend, Banksy’s work is thought provoking and incredibly digestible. BRILLIANT If by chance you haven’t seen “Exit Through The Gift Shop”, be sure to check out the extended […]
