Aaron Velásquez (the man behind Flamingosis) is a phenom of musical hybridization & creation. Creating other-worldy tracks by blending in beautiful & stylistic samples from yesteryear, with modern audio technology and beats (a la J. Dilla), Velàsquez’s work is something special. And he’s one generous sunnuvagun as well, gifting his new album for all to enjoy free of charge. Show Flamingosis some serious love and head over to his SoundCloud page as well as the Flamingosis website to keep up […]

Reuben Wu’s photographic portfolio is stunning. Surreal, hyper-chromatic, and highly evocative, Wu’s work stands alone amongst his contemporaries. As if his photographic repertoire wasn’t enough, Reuben also is a world-renowned DJ & produces the musical tracks for the duo Ladytron (below the gallery you’ll find a Ladytron track to sample). Such associations have enabled him to travel and gain opportunity to photograph some of the remote areas he has documented. His work in the Arctic North archipelago Svalbard (the northern […]
Although quite staunchly a dissident of materialism, one can’t help but see the beauty of design in these accoutrements of home furnishing. Granted, that ping-pong table is a bit ridiculous. DIY?
Ricardo Bofill & his architecture firm (Taller de Arquitectura) have reclaimed an old cement factory near Barcelona and turned it into their headquarters. Serving as one of the grandest examples of re-appropriation, the renovation of the turn of the 20th century industrial complex is astounding. Check out the gallery and video below for a bit of a walk through.
Leo Eguiarte‘s ‘About’ section on his website is humorous in its brevity. Simply stating “Leo Eguiarte is a Los Angeles-based artist.”, there isn’t a whole lot of background on the artist. Leo employs a relatively unique technique in using old circuit boards as a canvas- depicting futuristic worlds and polygonal forms with mixed media. Having stumbled upon his work via Juxtapoz, it is known that the artist has a tandem show coming up at the Slow Culture Gallery in L.A. […]
“Mmmmmm…. dem sum tasty-ass grooves right dare” is a statement that may involuntarily mutter when listening to this free album by Exmag. Below is one of the highlights – entitled ” Junk In That Thang”, and below it the whole album in a SoundCloud player (link to download in that). The download comes with some bizarre GIFs, a couple are incuded below. Junk […]
Shakespeare’s invention of the prefix Un- has been put to use in some pretty splendid ways (unreal, unperturbedly, but its place in the North Korean leader’s name seems appropriate. Rumored to have fed his dissenting uncle to 120 starved dogs, Kim Jong Un is quite an uncompassionate and undeserving and unqualified leader. Turning 31 today, Kim Jong Un is certainly swiggin’ some Hennessy with Dennis Rodman and gettin silly. Here’s hoping you have an unsavory and ungainly year Mr.Un! Enjoy […]
