Artistic Process of Smithe-One’s Horseman

December 9, 2012 by capture-monger

Straight from the archives of juxtapoz.com, here is a an awesome look into the process of Smithe-One’s piece for a Dia De Los Muertos exhibition last month.  Make sure to take a look at the detail shots and witness the fine detail that Smithe lays in with brush and pen.  Also included is another piece that SMithe submitted for the Dia De Los Muertos show where a man is paying a bribe to Death with a note that reads “Un […]

Cards Against Humanity.

December 8, 2012 by capture-monger

Just in case you haven’t heard: Cards Against Humanity is the most radical, ridiculous, and hilariously offensive game you’re ever likely to play.  1 Part Apples to Apples, 1 part Mad Libs, and 3 parts your mentally deranged and extremely inappropriate Great Uncle that has no filter – this game is chock full of outrageous randomness and novel shock value which translate into intense bouts of laughter. With the game’s beginnings as a Kickstarter project the game’s pdf file is […]

Experience LSD without dropping Acid + Humorous GIFS

December 8, 2012 by capture-monger

Animated GIFs have such a simple beauty to them.  Below are some of my favorites that I have recently found. The first GIF is one that – through staring @ the center point for 45 seconds – will alter your rods & cones temporarily to induce a visual effect similar to the influence of LSD (or so they say). PRAISE TECHNOLOGY!

Schumacher Quote on Standards of Living & Work

December 7, 2012 by capture-monger

After viewing the video of the planes streaming into SAN form a couple posts back, I had to put a tid-bit of Schumacher wisdom on here to balance it out.  Here is one of my favorite passages from his famous book “Small is Beautiful” (too more easily read quote: click on the image once to enlarge, and then once more to zoom in to largest size) VERACIOUS.

Space Time Foam / Fabric Installation

December 6, 2012 by capture-monger

Tomas Saraceno is an artist from Argentina that has recently started depicting Space Time Foam/Fabric in large scale installations with inflated cells that attendees can clamber on as the please.  Looks like an absolute BALL. Based on a drawing by astrophysicist Paul Davies, the installation mimics current theories on what space-time is made up of, and what it looks like on the infinitesimally small scale.  Here is an excerpt from the Artist’s Statement: “On Space Time Foam has been inspired […]

Prompt for Meditating about Current Scale.

December 6, 2012 by capture-monger

Compressing 4.5 hours of planes arriving / landing at San Diego International Airport (SAN) into 25 saturated seconds, Cy Kuckenbaker has created a short documentary-style montage that leaves viewers fazed.  When taking into account that SAN doesn’t even make its way into the Top 30 Busiest Airports Internationally (and doesn’t even make the top half of The Top 50 Busiest United States Airports), one has to stretch their imagination to near impossible limits in order to contemplate the amount of air-traffic […]

Gourmet Recipes: “Wrapper’s Delight” (Unreal veggie burrito DELIGHT)

December 6, 2012 by capture-monger

Welcome to the Premier posting of a new series based on gourmet recipes put together by none other than Mathieson Jennings.  If you haven’t heard of Matty J, you are (A) obviously in the dark in regards to the culinary world, & (B) under-employing your taste-buds. Born and raised in the ‘great white norf’ of upstate New York, Mathieson possesses a scary fervor for palate stimulation and has quickly bound to chef positions that the uninspired cooking-type can take upwards […]
