AWESOME and super comprehensive family tree of most all the vegetables ( with a few fruits [that many people think are vegetables] to boot ). How many are you familiar with? Courtesy of PopChartLab (who have many other similar Charts of various things from guitars to coffee to superpowers). Make sure to click on the above image to blow it up as big as possible!! Via AnotherMag. SUCH VARIETY!!!
Using what many would consider to be ‘green-waste’ or tree clippings, twigs, sticks and reeds (mostly of willow) are the medium for Dougherty’s jaw-dropping sculptures and structures. Whilst staying with my Genius (but you know what the say about the line between genius and insanity ;D) cousin Matty J in the Borderlands Motel of EPA, I was overcome with excitement to find an installation by Patrick Dougherty a mere 5 blocks from Matt’s apartment. I was able to snap a […]

“Exploring the space between art film and documentary,” ‘Leviathan’ is a highly innovative survey of life on a ground-fish trawler off the coast of Massachusetts. Originally learning about this project through the New York Times homepage, further investigation only caused greater intrigue. The film is a product of Harvard’s “Sensory Ethnography” department, and is just flat out awe-inspiring. The cinematographic execution is extremely original, and stands as testament to the incredible versatility and vantage-possibilities that the GoPro, and other similar […]

It’s quite a blantantly obvious statement to make, but: the variety of events that occur on this planet in a given week is mind-blowing. From quitters leaving decadent religious cities, to people surviving in humble mud structures – from the intertwining technicolor smoke trails of air-shows to air-strikes that turn buildings into rubble – the Earth’s happenings are staggering in their complexity and volume. Here’s the latest collection of favorites from the past week from LENS. PONDER PERSPECTIVE. Thanks to […]

Growing up and working on farms, Goldworthy has always had a strong tie to the land, and feels natural energies and scenes deeply. Varying in scale and complexity, some of Goldworthy’s creations take days to materialize, and some (melting […]

LENS had a small feature on the contenders for the best photographs of the year in categories such as People, Panoramas, Environment, Split Second, etc. Here are some of my favorites, but to see all the finalists, head over to the World Photo Organization’s website.

Here is a thought provoking mini-documentary on oil production in North Dakota that exposes the unsavory facets of energy extraction / production and the grunts who make it all possible. SAVAGE.

With digital sensor technology now boasting 1000 Megapixel capabilities, photographs taken of vast scenes can be explored with incredible detail. Above is a photo of a upper base camp at Mt.Everest that is taken by a gigapixel camera. Able to zoom in & pick out individual climbers (the feature thumbnail is of the tent camp at the base of the photo you can barely make out in the fully zoomed out image), and view the incredible texture of the glacial […]

Aside from having an awesome and unique moniker, Maskull Lassarre is a highly skilled artist that revels in the fine details. Quite conceptual in nature, Lassarre’s works touch on the idea of human potential and the relation between resources and finished products. Please have a look at a selection of his projects below.
